These stats shed an incredible light on the whole publishing thing. I've yet to find someone who'd want to publish my books, so it's little ol' me that gets it all done... and the services one pays for (editing, formatting, marketing etc) can be staggering. Very interesting and helpful. Thank you. I am about 6 months away from self-publishing my first book, and am keenly soaking up as much feedback as I can from other authors. I am under no illusions regarding the prospect of getting my book noticed and bought - and your own costings give me some valuable clues.
Interesting... Cheers! I have an abhorrence of selfpublishing brought on by so many things but mainly the travesty of lack of professionalism in so many of books being put out. Then there are the restrictions it can impose on future publishing deals ... Having said that, a lot of topnotch professional writers are going down the sp route now! And who am I really to argue! The publisher you mention sounds interesting too!
