I’ve asked:
Does Promoting Other Authors Sell Your Books?
Does Promoting Other Authors Fix the World?
If you look at the state of the world today - and factor in that the latter was one of my lowest-clicked on posts of 2023 - the answer is obviously: No.
The first post was almost twice as popular. You can click here to find out how many books I sold this year and whether my various marketing strategies worked.
However, because of the state of the world, and because The Festival of Lights begins this Thursday night, I am going to keep on promoting other authors’ books, especially those written by my fellow Soviet-Jewish writers.
Please check out the videos my daughter and I made extolling the different virtues of each. They make wonderful holiday gifts, and are a chance for us to make somebody’s holiday just a little bit brighter:
And a bonus ninth book for all the immigrants in your life… not just Soviet and not just Jewish:
Read one! Read them all! Tell your friends! Let us know which one was your favorite!
And have a wonderful holiday season!
It would be my pleasure to send you a copy for consideration. Please let me know where I should mail the book.
My email: galina@galinacherny.com
I think we are also connected in one of the FB groups so you could DM me there.
Thank you.
Wishing you and your family a happy and prosperous year ahead.
Great videos, Alina! Such fantastic discussions with your daughter. She is lovely.
I can relate to your comments about speaking Russian to her when she was young. Even though my husband and I spoke Russian, teaching our sons didn’t work for us either. I was obsessed with them learning English so they wouldn’t sound like immigrants.
After reading your book, The Nesting Dolls, I keep "running into you" on social media. Getting to know the author behind the story is a special treat, and I am thankful for that.
My debut memoir about my Soviet life and the American experience was published last year. It's been an amazing journey and an eye-opener.
