My last two posts on how I exposed a book scammer proved so popular they went into syndication. And I’m a nice person. (I’m not, but I’m working on it.) When the next scammer reaches out to me with a scam, I always send them links so they’ll know whom they’re dealing with and quit while they’re behind.
They never quit while they’re behind. They are always the only honest broker. It’s everyone else who is a scammer. And, to prove it to me, they share their amazing services. And then I try to pin them down on exactly what they’re offering. Read the below and let me know, would you take this deal?
Marvellous Ola: Hello there How are you Hope you are good? You have a nice book with an attractive book cover design. Do you have any book trailer video for your book?

Book Marketer Begins Bogus Blackmail (Badly)
How will you prove you are different?
MO: Yes, I am different because I do exactly what I promise and I am God fearing individual. There's no success in scamming my fellow human being to get money. I understand that everyone works to get and make money. I do what I promise.
AA: Are you willing to do the work upfront and only get paid when you sell as many books as you promised? Or are you a scammer like everyone else?
MO: Hello Alina, I respect you. Please don't call me scammer. You haven't send me a dime or order me a dime. I can work upfront and collect the payment later, but some client are not trustworthy. After I deliver quality work, they will block me.
AA: OK, if you want me to trust you, you have to trust me first. Your decision.
MO: Yes sure, I can trust you.
AA: Great, how many books do you guarantee you will sell for me if I use your service?
MO: As many as you want. Base on your budget
AA: Tell me how much you charge.
MO: We can actually start with 5
AA: 5 what?
MO: Book sales. And I will also give it review.
AA: So how much will you charge to sell 5 books for me?
MO: Can I know your budget?
AA: No. I want to know your prices first.
MO: Please calm down.
AA: Tell me your prices. How can I work with someone when I don't know your prices? You are not very professional if you cannot quote your prices to me. Oh, well, guess I will give my money to someone else. You don't know what you're doing.
MO: It's not that I can't give you a budget. But I do consider some of my client, and willing to work with their budget. I will help you get sales to your book and also give you verified review.
AA: I don't pay for reviews. I want to know how much you will charge me and how many books you promise to sell for that amount.
MO: Is $250 fair
AA: $250 to sell 5 books????
MO: Yes Is it too much?
AA: It's ridiculous! Have you ever done this before? Has anyone paid you $250 to sell 5 books???
MO: Yes sure. You can let me know if that's fair with you. I am running an effective marketing campaign for you.
AA: You run a campaign so effective that it costs $250 to sell 5 books? My books sell for $9.99. How could I possibly make a profit at that price?
MO: That's the reason why I ask for your budget. Can we do it for $200?
AA: It's not about my budget, it's about turning a profit. $200 to sell 5 books? Are you out of your mind?
MO: Why would you say that.
AA: How will I make a profit on that sum? Why would I pay you to promote books and NOT make a profit? I could sell 5 books by just giving 5 people the money to buy them, and it would cost so, so, so much less than what you are asking. You're crazy!
MO: Please mind the way you use your words
AA: This is the biggest scam I have ever been offered, and I have been offered many, many scams. You are telling me that people pay you $200 to sell 5 books for them????
AA: That’s the reason why I asked for your budget.
AA: So you DO have people who pay you $250 to sell 5 books? To sell 5 books, I wouldn't pay more than 5 bucks!
MO: Yes and no. Some people pay, and to other people I consider Tham with the budget they have available, when they get more sales they do compensate me.
AA: I will not pay more than $1 per book sale. So if you want to make a deal where you sell 200 books and then I pay you $200, we're good to go.
MO: I don't get you.
AA: When I have sold 200 copies of my book thanks to your marketing, I will pay you $200
MO: Not possible
AA: We can also start small. After I have sold 5 books thanks to your marketing, I will pay you $5.
MO: No wonder you are accusing people of scamming. You want something for a very low budget. I wish you best of luck with your book.
AA: $200 is a low budget to you?
MO: For 200 boo salsa.
AA: I can sell 5 books on my own with no marketing. There is NO reason to pay $200 for what I can do myself for free.
MO: Alright.

So Ms. Ola and her $250 for 5 book sales is the Scammer of the Week! (I’ve never given out that prize before, but maybe I should start.)
Runners up include:
Elizabeth Ben, who is a super-duper successful book marketer who cannot name a single author she helped become super-duper successful, due to privacy concerns, natch.
Johnson A. James, who guarantees a “90% sales percentage,” but has trouble articulating 90% of WHAT?
Do you have a favorite book scammer of the week? Let us know, and please share their profile in the Comments so others know to stay clear!
Wow. Not only do they not understand the book biz, they don’t understand any biz.
