Back in April of 2022, I asked the question “So, Uhm… What’s a Cover Reveal?”
Two years later, I know. It’s when you reveal… your cover. (I like when things are straightforward.)
And today is that day! Check out the cover for my May 1, 2025 historical fiction, “Go On Pretending,” as well as my unboxing video (my teen tells me it’s what all the hip, young authors do) at this link.
But, wait, there’s more!
“Go On Pretending” is set in the world of classic soap operas as they transition from radio to television. (How do I get from there to the Soviet Union? You’ll need to read it to find out!) The star is an African-American actor whose identity was easy to hide while he was on the radio… but what will happen once the show moves to TV?
This February, CBS will premiere the first new soap opera in 25 years. (Why can I recall that number so easily? Because the last new show to debut, “Passions,” came out while I was in the hospital giving birth to my oldest son. So the date is kind of imprinted in my mind.)
Not only is “Beyond the Gates” revolutionary because it’s Procter & Gamble’s (where I worked and wrote the “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light” New York Times bestselling tie-in books and where “Go On Pretending” is set) first new soap opera in a quarter of a century, but also because it is co-presented by the NAACP and features a truly diverse cast of actors, writers, producers, and directors.
So to celebrate that (and to promote my book; if you’re regular readers here, you know that I’m never coy about promoting my books) those who pre-order “Go On Pretending” will have their copies shipped on Monday, February 24, which is over two months before “Go On Pretending” will be available in stores AND happens to be the date of “Beyond the Gates” first episode!
But, wait, there’s more more!
Because I really love and believe in this book, I have an extra incentive for you to pre-order “Go On Pretending.”
Those who purchase their copy in the next two months can also choose between two FREE ebooks as my gift to you:
For the soap opera fan, it’s “Soap Opera 451: A Time Capsule of Daytime Drama’s Greatest Moments,” where I interview the actors, writers, and producers who created the moments fans voted their favorite of all time.
And for the Jewish historical fiction readers, it’s “The Fictitious Marquis,” my 1995 Avon Regency romance which The Romance Writers of America declared the first Own Voices Jewish historical and Kveller dubbed a Jewish “Bridgerton.”
So what are you waiting for? Click here to see the cover, to pre-order your copy, to watch my unboxing video, to read the reviews, and to download your free ebook immediately!
It’s a win, win, win, win, win! I can’t wait to hear what you think!
The cover looks great!!
