Book Marketer Begins Bogus Blackmail (Badly)

A Literal Literary Loser Loses Patience

Earlier this month, in a post entitled Fool Me Twice: The Book Marketing Scammer I Outed Comes After My Money - Again!, I wrote:

As I am writing this update, one Bryan Acee has not only assured me that he is not a scammer but has guaranteed me, for the low, low price of only $110 to sell 200,000 copies of my book via his amazing marketing services. Hurry, and he can promise to do the same for you!

As per usual, I told Bryan Acee that I would only agree to his book marketing services if he did the work first, then collected payment after he’d accomplished what he promised. Bryan acquiesced. As has now become the norm, please find our Facebook exchange below. Pay particular attention to the part where he slips into blackmail, followed by extortion.

Bryan Acee: Have been helping you with website promotion that leads to traffic

Me: That's great. Please send me the link so I can see how you work!

BA: It is a one time promotion. It doesn't have a link to provide.

Me: You promoted my books without a link? How did you do it?

Me: The book you say you've been promoting got no sales at all.

BA: I will work towards that. But I can see you are not God fearing I had being helping you with promotion Having the target that you will pay me in future. Can you just pay me a little bit for now

Me: Let me know when you officially start promoting my book and I will let you know if your promotion leads to sales. The last person I worked with who contacted me over Facebook did lots and lots of promotion but not a single copy sold!!!

BA: We are different

Me: How are you different? His promotion made no sales, and your promotion made no sales. Are you failing in different ways?

BA: My promotion haven't last for any day. It is still new. Give me some days to work on it

Me: I understand. I will let you know when I have made 200,000 sales like you promised. I will let you know when I have made even one new sale. It hasn't happened yet.

(A week later)

Me: Have you started my promotion yet?

BA: Yes. How is the sales

Me: Not a single copy sold yet

BA: Oh still in it. Still working on it

Me: OK, I'll keep you posted if anything works

BA: But you supposed to compensate me for being working on your project and I'm using some amount of my money to help you with it. It lack promotion and some of the effect gas been fixed

Me: I said I would pay you as soon as I had any sales. I have had no sales. With no sales, how can I believe you are doing anything for me?

Me: Right. Not a single copy of that title has been sold this week.

BA: Okay I'll try my best on getting your book sold

(Four days later)

BA: Hello friend. How are you?

Me: I am great.

BA: How is the sales now

Me: Not a single book sold from your promotion. And I know the account is working because I've sold lots of other books in the meantime.

BA: Try to be calm. This is too early

Me: Oh, I'm very calm, I've put it entirely in your hands. You just asked how it was going.

(A week later)

Me: Just checking in, haven't seen any book sales, do you still plan to do a campaign for me?

Me: That's not a book link. If that's the book you've been promoting, it's not a book link. No wonder I haven't been seeing any sales!

BA: Oh sorry. May I have the book link

Me: Did you even read the link to see that it wasn't a book link?

BA: Kindly provide me the existing book link

Me: I am sorry, I don't think I can work with someone so careless and sloppy. What if I paid you money and you promoted the wrong link for weeks????

Me: Yes, that is the right link. You had it all along.

BA: Sorry for the delay. Kindly notify me when you get sales

Me: Will do!

(Next day)

BA: Hello friend. How are you doing

Me: Fabulous. No books sold yet though. Are you still marketing them?

BA: Yes still going on with your project. Friend. Your book is very potential and look great now. I really think you should compensate me with what you can afford right now course have gone far on your book.

Me: I should pay you for not having sold a single book? How do I know you are even doing anything, since I have seen not one result?

BA: Oh is like you don't even trust and not God fearing I have try so hard on your book for making all that copies we agreed into, our deal is one month or two so I think we still going

Me: You tried so hard... but did not achieve any results... and I should still pay you anyway because....?

BA: I'm even loosing some of my charges on your project and you think I'm not working on your project How will that be possible and I will be expecting you to pay when am not working on your project is that make any sense Our agreement is not yet land

Me: We agreed that I would pay when your marketing efforts worked. Your marketing efforts have not worked.

BA: We make deal that it will take me up to one month or two before you can accumulate that sales. Still working on it

Me: Great. At the end of one month or two, when I see sales, I will pay you. Just like we agreed, right?

BA: I mean I was explaining the way I'm really trying on your project that you should even compensate for all what I have done so far. Our company is we should make payment before work but I thought you will be worked with if I didn't collect any charges from you before starting your project but I thought now you don't believe anymore

Me: What have you done so far. Please show me the links to your marketing efforts so far.

BA: Okay hold on. After everything I can see social media promotion is not working for your book Can we run ads

Me: Can I see the social media promotion you've been doing? Which platform? What copy? How often? What hashtags?

BA: No, I can't you didn't pay me for that

Me: I didn't pay you to send me a single link to prove that you've been doing any work at all? I am just supposed to take your word for it that you've been running social media promotion, but I'm not allowed to see it?

BA: You will be allowed if you pay my bill. I can see you are willing to scam me And also ready to take things from me

Me: I will be allowed to see the work you've been doing if I pay you for the work you can't prove you've been doing?

BA: Yes you will allowed. I am not ready to give out free things anymore. Pay me and you will get what I had done instantly

Me: Prove that you did anything first. Why should I pay for something I can't see?There are two possibilities here: 1) You did promotional work, it failed miserably. Why should I pay someone who has proved they are no good at their job? 2) You did no work, are lying to me, and trying to get money out of me for nothing. Which is it?

BA: You will see it it you pay. Just be calm and believe

Me: Prove that you did anything first.

BA: Do you think I am a fool I have being working for you Since all this day And You are just coming one-day to get all what I had done

Me: Please answer my question above. Is it 1 or 2?

BA: None of the above. You're the one you think I'm not doing anything. Can you leave me then You are not talking on what we have agreed about Don't play hanky-panky with me. You're not God fearing

And that is where we left things. Why do I think I won’t be getting my promised 200,000 sales?

Just when I think I’ve heard everything any scammer had to say, along comes something new. How about you? What’s your experience been like?
